Well, it obviously gave American Indians a place to stay and food to eat. It converted them to Catholicism, which wasn't too different from many Native American religions. Sadly, Native Americans had to work there and do daily tasks such as whitewashing walls and other chores. They worked in buildings to make oil, wine, rope, shoes, and many more things. If they tried to escape, they were punished severely and they had to abandon their former religion and couldn't practice their culture, but the missionaries let the Indians have free time. Some missionaries were kind enough to let the Indians practice some of their culture.
