The production of a certain good needs to take into account what resources are available and will be available if continued production maintains its current levels and what will be needed in case of a need for increasing production.
As the availability of resources is in parallel with the ideas of supply and demand, so must we take into account what will happen in the resources for the creation of the product become scarce. If scarcity of source materials were to occur, we would then need to pay more for the materials, that is what happens when supply is decreased.
As an alternative and necessary business planing model, we need to take into consideration the exploration or investigation into finding other sources for our resources and then incorporating into our overall business models the likelihood of these other suppliers of resources to be more or less expensive, as again this will affect the costs of production for our good, as well as the final cost for the consumer of our product.
