Progressive overload is defined as the adaptation of the body to a steady increase in the amount of the exercise. The amount of overload needed to maintain or improve one’s fitness level are all determined by the frequency (F) of training, intensity of training (I), time allotted for training (T), and the type of training (T); or FITT. Specificity of training is a training principle wherein the body reacts and adapts to the training with respect to the type, therefore the amount of overload is not determined by specificity.
