The features of epic poetry are:
a) A courageous hero who answers a call to adventure. Epic poetry's plot is always focused on a strong and wise hero with endless courage. He is always ready for challenging adventures he will never show fear when moving towards new lands because only such things make a hero out of a man.
c) A journey filled with many obstacles. According to the classical structure of epic stories, it must be engaging. It can be inaging only if a hero can demonstrate that he is a dynamic character filled with ability to continue his task despite all the defficulties. The obstacles that prevent a hero from getting what he wants make him show his complexness, which also makes plot be engaging.
d) A vast setting of distant landscapes. Epic stories contain a lot of descriptive language, especially about the setting because a hero always explores new lands. A hero is always ready for adventures, and it usually takes a lot of time to the main character to explore new places that lead him to unexpected adventures.
e) Supernatural forces, such as gods or monsters, that intervene. This trait of epic poem is similar to 'obstacles'. Antagonists of epic poems are usually representatives of supernaturality because it is far harder for an epic hero to resist such powers than to deal with something absolutely regular. Since a hero is that brave and strong, he has to deal with something more serious and dangerous than normal problems.
