The widespread use of the printing press facilitated the dispersal of ancient texts by the humanists of the late renaissance that served to encourage study and debate. When Renaissance humanism may be dated from the invention of printing press about 1450. when it came it encountered some resistance from the scholastic theology which reigned in universities.

The renaissance could not be the renaissance with the mass production of book due to the growing printing press. The books were not being printed in cheaper and faster rate, and the discourse that each publication made, gave birth to more debates and scientific discoveries. It also helped in the proliferation of the scientific researches like the Principalia of Isaac Newton or the Origin of the Species by Charles Darwin. It also made books and bibles accessible to the masses.
