The effects these measures had on the colonies were that they united the colonies in their fight against the British.
On March 25, 1774, British Parliament passes the Boston Port Act. This ordered the closing of the port of Boston. From then on, the citizens must pay for one million dollars worth of tea. There were another three acts. The other ones were the Quartering Act, the Administration of Justice Act and the Massachusetts Government Act. The four acts were known as the Coercive Acts.
The people from the colony supported Boston. England thought the colonies would abandon the city, but instead, the colonial people shipped supplies to Boston and then created an extra-legal Provincial Congresses to start the mobilization of the resistance to the British crown. Later, this led to the First Continental Congress.
