Can someone please teach me how to add, subtract, multiply and divide negative numbers?

Here are some questions I need answered!

1: -4 + (-5)

2: 30 + (-17)

3: -3 + 4 - 8 - 7

if both numbers are negative u add those up and ur answer will be a negative. so number one is negative 9.
if there is more positive ur answer will be a positive. so number 2 is 13.
number is more complicated so negative 3 +4 is 1 because u have more positive and u just subtract those then 1 minus 8 equals negative 7 and negative 7 minus 7 is 0. hope this helps

1) Since both the number are negative the answer will he negative. You can add then like normally so 4+5=9 but you can't forget the negative sign so the answer comes to -9.

2) With this equation it's more difficult since you have a positive and a negative. Since 30 is bigger than 17 the answer will end up being positive. Which ever number is bigger will determine if it's positive or negative. You subtract like normally so, 30-17=13 your answer.

3) Combine all your like terms. So all your negatives. -3-8=-11. The equation then reads -11+4-7. You combine -11-7=-18. The equation then reads -18+4 and since -18 is bigger the answer will be negative. -18+4 equals -14.
