There are two main classifications of medications (from a layman's perspective) the traditional antipsychotic medications (Haldol, etc.), and the newer, "atypical" antipsychotic medications that have come out in the past decade (Clozapine, Geodon, Seroquel, Risperdal, Zyprexa, Abilify, etc.).
