Ayuba Suleiman, also known as Job Ben Solomon was a Muslim of high rank and while on a trip in Gambia, he was captured and enslaved. He endured the long trip on the slave ship Arabella and was ultimately sold to a tobacco farmer. While Ayuba experienced many "normal" experiences of enslavement such as: crossing the Atlantic, being sold into captivity, and escaping, some of his experiences were unusual. Ayuba could speak Arabic and was seen to be educated and well read, and was ultimately set free by the powers that be (even though they had ulterior motives in doing so).
