Late Mughal leaders' intolerance of non-Muslim citizens weakened the empire.

Answer:

Islam was part of the culture of Mughal rulers including  the upper class members of the Mughal society who were devoted muslims.

Explanation:

Mughal Empire was always influenced by muslim and Hindu religion since we are talking about  South Asia, particulary the Indian peninsula. Mughal rulers were mainly muslims followers, however they included to some extent Hindu beliefs in their way of life, more or less depending of the case for any Mughal ruler. Unfortunately, this balance did not last forever as it ended up in political clashes for power; what is more, even though  historians are not completely sure about the main cause of Mugal Empire's downfall, it is discussed that the action of the Hindu powers against the Muslim classes, including the Mughal ruler, affected the stability of the empire.
