Sufism can be defined as a belief and religious experience in which Islam practitioners seek purity of heart and soul, knowledge and harmony with all creations through direct personal experience of God. This path of spiritualism is said to be mystical because it alters the state of consciousness.

To whoever wants to go through this path, needs a mystical guide who will direct the disciple and order him/her to follow some strict ascetic practices.
