The answer is: Eliezer is angry with God.
Despite having been a very religious men in his early years, his time on the camps made Eliezer lose his faith in God.
During the service for Rosh Hashana, he feels angry and rebells even more against his God. He no longer believes that the Jews are God's chosen people, because otherwise, he would not have let them be massacred like they were.
