An example of cultural diffusion in East Asia includes the spread of the teachings of Confucius or the religion of Buddhism. On the other hand, an example of cultural diffusion in South Asia is the spread of Hinduism which more than faith, is treated as a way of life. Theravada Buddhism, however, influenced most of the Southeast Asian through the Siam. Each diffusion was enabled by the increase and advancement of communication, transportation and technology. Impacts of cultural diffusion include both negative and positive. A positive effect, for example is that, an individual is able to learn new ideas different from his own culture and allows him to experience the benefits of having new concepts in life. A negative effect, for example is that, when an individual learned new concepts from another culture, he has the tendency to lose his own cultural identity and long-term traditions may soon be forgotten.
