In the original novel, written by H. G. Wells, the Martian invasion of Earth begins in a farm near London in 1898. However, in Orson Welles’ adaptation, the landing of the Martian spacecraft occurs in Grover’s Mill, New Jersey, and the action of the story takes place in the moment of the broadcast, in 1938.
