Jackson and The New Yorker received so much hate email over the summer after The Lottery was first published. The Union of South Africa even prohibited this story.
The Lottery has been dramatized several times over the years. It is also used in study sessions as an analysis of the sociological and literary field. Until now, The Lottery is still being read and studied at many Universities and places.
