I'm a senior right now and honestly... Grades and getting involved no matter what. Motivate him to NOT FALL BEHIND. To his best each day because at this senior year he can get relaxed. That his Freshman year will likely be his hardest year due to him being introduced to a new year. He should try new things and experience new things. That'll help find himself and see what he wants to do in the future. I messed up so bad my freshman year. I had a mindset that all of highschool was just a big waste of time. Colleges obviously want a high GPA but also see what classes he took and what groups he was in. All of these things will expand his options and make things a lot easier.
