The Virginia Coastal Zone Management Program was approved by NOAA in 1986 and its goals include protecting coastal resources, air and water quality, preventing the loss of coastal habitats, and loss of life and property from coastal hazards. One ecosystem receiving much attention is the wetland ecosystem. Why is this area so important to the overall coastal health in Virginia?

Respuesta :

This area so important to the overall coastal health in Virginia because  Wetlands protect against floods and provide many species habitats and breeding grounds.

Wetlands are highly prolific and biologically distinct practices that improve water quality, check erosion, manage water flows, segregate carbon, and render a shelter to at least one-third of all endangered and jeopardized species. Wetlands are essential because they enhance water quality and contribute to wildlife environment.

Answer:

Answer the research question and hypothesize about the results of the addition of this invasive species. A) Biodiversity will remain constant and although the existing top level consumers will be wiped out, they will be replaced by other species. B) The sea lamprey will work through the food web, top to bottom. The old web will collapse and there will be a drastic decrease in biodiversity. C) The consumers with the purple and blue bands will become extinct. The producers and herbivores will dominate the ecosystem. Biodiversity will decline. D) The top level consumers will disappear and biodiversity will decline, but because of the complexity of the food web, it will sustain itself over time.

answer Wetlands protect against floods and provide many species habitats and breeding grounds. The last thing we would want to see happen is development in the wetland areas.
