In ancient times, between 3000 B.C. and 1500 A.D., countries focused on their own technological advances. They normally did not share their knowledge or their technology with other countries. Every country competed with one another and tried to do something or discover something before someone else. These technological advances allowed the discovering country to be more prosperous than others, which also elevated their position of power and prestige in that time period. Because of this, some countries tried to get thier hands on the technology of other countries, which sometimes resulted in wars.
