The caste system was how the Indian people divided their society. The four main categories are the Brahmins, Kshatriyas, Vaishyas, Shudras and Untouchables. The caste system affected society by not letting each caste intertwine within marriage and even eating.

The Vedas are a collection of hymns and other religious texts. The Rig Veda, consisted of hymns or devotional incantations of 10,562 written lines in ten books. The Sama Veda, was mainly concerned with the god Indra. The Atharya Veda, was a collection of 730 hymns, totaling six thousand stanzas.
