Neurotransmitters makes it possible for messages to cross the synapse of a neuron to a target receptor. They are chemical substances created by the body that transmit signals (ie, information) from one neuron to the next through contact points called synapses. When this happens, the chemical substance is released by the vesicles of the pre-synaptic neuron, crosses the synaptic space and acts by changing the action potential in the post-synaptic neuron. Today more tham 60 neurotransmitters have been discovered, among which are: dopamine, endorphin, serotonin, adrenaline, etc.
