Mowgli, since the beginning, was not a wolf, so he always had members of the pack that disliked him. With such companions always around, it was inevitably that after any mistake, the enmities would arise and criticize him, making the situation worsen.

What sustained Mowgli's life was the sympathy of the leader and the few friends he made. However, when the leader was getting old, he would be succeeded, and the tiger Shere Khan was the most apt to be leader, because he was the strongest between the wolves, and since the new leader should be chosen by a fight with the actual leader, the tiger would prevail.

Mowgli was kicked out of the pack and Shere Khan became the leader. The little hero, then, chose to use fire to repel the tiger from the pack, but the wolves got shocked when saw Mowgli using fire. The fire was the point where Mowgli lost all the trust from the pack, because he used "human dark magic".
