The patriot victory at Kings Mountain was a turning point in the war that brought new support to the patriots from the southerners. It demoralized the British and revived the Americans. The Carolina Piedmont would no longer be loyalists who flocked to the King's rule, they had a new spirit. The British had taken a serious strategical blow, though more fighting would lay ahead, this turning point changed the war and in a little over a year Cornwallis surrendered to Washington in Yorktown.
