Explain how international-organization membership and participation in international treaties affect national sovereignty. Also, consider: how is the definition of sovereignty changing in a globalized world?

Respuesta :

If you take the case of the European, about 75% of all legislation is made at a supranational level. This encourages countries to work together, but the democratic process is not respected beyond national borders. In a globalized world, nations accept to delegate some of their powers, such as war conducting or tariffs in exchange for a stable world. This may mean having to negotiate with countries which are not democracies.

International-organization membership and participation in international treaties affect national sovereignty by encouraging countries to work together.  Unfortunately, the democratic process is still not respected worldwide.  In a globalized world nations accept certain delegate powers for war conducting or tariffs to create a stable world but since many countries still aren't democracies is causes need for negotiations amongst the different standing powers.
