Patrick Henry maintained that Britain had not truly yielded, especially when considering the longer history of interaction between the British the colonists. He said that for ten years Britain had consistently refused to accept colonial pleas for peace - therefore continuing to just petition Britain will fail. War, according to Patrick Henry, was inevitable.
