A major purpose of the 1963 March on Washington was to support the passage of the Civil Rights bill.
This was the moment when Martin Luther King gave his famous speech "I Have a Dream" in support of equal rights for all citizens. Civil Rights bill was finally passed in 1964, and was signed by President Lyndon B. Johnson.
