The 27 expressed powers of Congress are listed in Article I, Section 8 of the Constitution. They grant Congress a huge amount of authority over national policy. They include the power to declare war, levy taxes, regulate commerce and currency.
Some of the things that are implied by the congressional power to regulate commerce are the establishment of a minimum wage, the regulation of foreign and interstate commerce, the right to ban discrimination in the workplace and the creation of laws that protect disabled employees.
