Can someone explain this to me? I am graphing time and distance, and I have to answer the questions at the bottom. Please and thank you.

For Q1 find the gradient as the gradient of the line when x=0 to x=2 will be the velocity
Then for Q2 find the gradient when x=0 to x=3 and obviously using the corresponding y values
Q3 same pattern
Q4 gradient between x=2 to x=4
Q5 gradient between x=4 to x=5
Hope that helps

The average speed is always

(The change in distance during the time)
Divided by
(The length of the time).

This simple formula will answer all five questions under the graph.

On a distance time graph like you have here, average speed during some time is also the slope of the line during that time. The slope is not the same everywhere on your graph. So the average speeds will not be the same for every period of time.
