Hi !!
They might be quite a lot of reasons
- to avoid cheating
- to avoid being stolen , to get hustled
- to stop being always on social networks during time off and try to be a little more in real life with your school friends, chat with them for real
- so to get used not always being on a screen, as a "detox"
They made an experience in England (I read that in the newspaper) and the students said they felt less tired and had better marks.....
Hope that helps !

1) Schools should not allow students to have their cell phones with them in class because students can cheat via cell phone on tests; for example they could snap a photo of the test and send it to another classmate or search the answer on the internet.
2)Students should not be allowed to bring their cell phones in class because they could cyberbully via phones even though classrooms are supposed to be safe for everybody.
3)Students should not be allowed to bring their cellphone to class because they can get distracted by them. Some examples of this are videogames, texting or even little things such as notifications and lights.
Those are usually the main reasons why schools prefer students to leave their phones at home.
