The great sphinx at Giza, in Ggypt,
has the body of a lion and the head of a king.
The Sphinx of the Giza Plateau is one of the most iconic yet mysterious figures. It sits at the foot of the pyramids near Cairo. We don't know when it was made exactly, but many believed that it was carved during the reign of King Khafre in 2500 B. C.
It is one of the largest, if not largest, statues ever carved from a single piece of stone. It was 240 feet long and 60 feet high.
