The formula for yhe perimter of a rectangle is p= 2l + 2w where i is the length and w is the width. a rectangle has a perimeter of 24 inches. find its dimensions if its length is 3 inches greater than its width

Let x be width 

Length: 3+x 

Perimeter= 2(l+w) 
24=2(x+x+3) 
24=2(2x+3) 
24=4x+6
18=4x
x=18/4 
x=4.5 

width= 4.5" length: (3+4.5)= 7.5"
