The most important achievement of secular modernists in recent times is the degree of freedom or rights that has been given to many citizens in modern-day Egyptian: more freedom and rights have been easier to come by, most especially because of the ban and control of the strong Muslim Brotherhood which had been guided by many religious laws that stepped on the personal rights of many Egyptians who have now dropped Sharia Law, stopped praying as much as before, and started accepting gender equality.

Egyptian secular modernists tend to believe that Egyptian citizens should have the right to live their lives void of too much control from religious teachings, laws or rules; secular modernists tend to remain more neutral when it comes to matters that hinge on religious beliefs.
