The cardiac ventricles are the one or both lower chambers of the heart.

The right ventricle receives venous (deoxygenated) blood from the right atrium and propels it to the lungs through the pulmonary artery.

It is rather the left ventricle which receives oxygenated blood by the left atrium and propels it into the body through the aorta.
