Epidemiology is the branch of science that deals with the spread, incidence and control of health and disease conditions in specified populations. Epidemiological investigation provides information about the number of individuals that have a disease or disorder, if there is any change in the numbers, how the society is being affected by the disease and how the disease can be controlled/ prevented.
