Mexico City was founded as Mexico-Tenochtitlan by the Aztecs, not Spanish. It was flourished between A.D 1325 and 1521, built on the island on Lake Texcoco. The capital city of Mexico was built on top of the ruins of the Aztec capital soon after the Spanish destroyed the city after their conquer. During the colonial period, Mexico City became one of the most important cities in the country due to its system of canals and causeways that supplied the people who lived there.

The bias and the fallacious arguments are based on historical inaccuracies. It only accounts for recent history since it became colonized. Before colonization which was terrible in its own right, there were many Mexican huge civilizations who were far greater and richer historically and who were not mentioned. It was definitely not the most important since the beginning of settlements, but it did become the capital of the state of Mexico.
