The Declaration of Independence and the Declaration of the Rights of Man are similar because they both state that humans are born with certain unalienable rights that cannot be infringed upon by any government, such as liberty.
State the existence of "natural rights"-- both documents present the idea that people are rights granted by nature that cannot be violated.

Both the Declaration of Independence and the Declaration of the Rights of Man are Enlightenment documents which focus on the idea of "natural rights". Natural rights are the rights to a person's freedoms and the government must protect those freedoms instead of violating them. Both documents suggest there should be checks and balances within the government to make sure rights are not violated.
