I think that both Roland and Clive are correct.
Roland is correct when he said that Ruth Crawford Seeger was a modernist composer because she lived during the era of modernism and composed her own music during that time. However, Clive is also correct when he says that she was a collector and arranger of American folksongs because she did that for a period of time.
