Just so you know, this is the formula for slope(m is slope, and y2 and y1 are 2 values on the line for y, while x2 and x1 are values on the line for x. If you take y1 and x1, they are a point on the line, and y2 and x2 are also a point)

if you have values for the other variables, then you can plug them all in and solve the problem just like you would if you had one variable. If you don't, then it's just a literal equation:

[tex]m= \frac{y2-y1}{x2-x1} [/tex]
multiply both sides by
(x2-x1) so it cancels out on the right side to get:
[tex]m(x2-x1)=y2-y1[/tex]
add y1 onto both sides to get:
[tex]m(x2-x1)+y1=y2[/tex]
and that is your answer
