The nurse should
emphasize on not overdosing on this medication may cause edema
(swelling). Demopressin overdosage can cause excessive water retention and, if
severe, hyponatremia and fatal water intoxication. This excess fluid will be
trapped in the body tissues causing swelling typically known as edema.
