The purpose of the Palmer Raids were to identify and punish suspected communists. The Palmer Raids were a series of raids conducted by Attorney General A. Mitchell Palmer who wanted to capture, arrest and deport radical leftists and anarchists and this took place in the Red Scare period in the United States. This happened during 1919 and 1920.
