The main environmental issue affecting the Murray darling basin is a severe lack of rainfall, since this lack of rain makes it difficult for crop growth, and to sustain much of the plant and animal life in the region.
Human activities and their consequences continue to pose threat to the Basin's natural environment. The Basin's land damage has an impact on the quality of water in the rivers.Many consequences are revealed through impacts on the landscape, however some may be unnoticed until years after the damage was cause.
