First of all, there was the Ice Age - this was the time which resulted in the creation of the land bridge. This bridge made it possible for both people and animals to spread throughout these continents. They settled in various parts of Americas, where some people developed their hunting skills, whereas the others were more about farming. Eventually, this led to the formation of first civilizations in the Americas.
