I believe this to be true. For example, in Vancouver, BC the price of housing keeps going up and it is becoming excessive and beyond the means of many ordinary wage earners looking to buy a residence. Even those with a residence of their own may be say having another child on the way and need an extra bedroom. In order to get this bedroom ie a 3 bedroom place their only choice is to go further away from Vancouver on say the far outskirts of the metropolitan area. This can mean a longer commute to work and being further from grandparents for example so increases stress and hardship on that family. So the result of this increase of price of residences forces people to search outside the city center and suffer the consequences.
