An epic means a long narrative poem which contains the deeds of a legendary or heroic personality. Epics are among the earliest forms of literature.

Courage: The hero is a courageous person who does not fear any hardship or monster when it comes to showing the bravery and courage, Anglo-Saxon culture held courage high in their values so obviously a courageous hero like Beowulf would have pleased their senses.

Standing up for Good: Beowulf is all about a fight between good and evil, where Grendel is referred to as humanity’s Death and his mother as She-Wolf and Beowulf is the personification of light and good and hope for humanity, Anglo-Saxon culture highly appreciated being good in a society.

Loyalty: Beowulf is loyal to his people as well as hi king and even God helps those who stay loyal to their cause, in those cultures king was a representation of god on earth and the value of being loyal to king was a much appreciated virtue among Anglo-Saxon people which is evident in Beowulf.
