“The Sound of Thunder” fits into a science fiction genre, due to the fact that the characters go back into time; with the events that follow the whole world is changed when one little tiny thing is affected. Many of the things that happen in the story can be applied into real life, many of which you would not think about. The theme of the story is very realistic but futuristic at the same time; therefore, making it very complicated with real problems in the modern world but not having it appear that way. The story has a domino effect when Eckles stepped on the butterfly it had changed everything in the world when they had returned. The exact quotes are “Not a little thing like that! Not a butterfly!” cried Eckels. “It fell to the floor, an exquisite thing, a small thing that could upset balances and knock down a line of small dominoes and then big dominoes and then gigantic dominoes, all down the years across Time.” The story has to be shown as a vital lesson into modern life.
