Proofreading is the the process of reading the author's own text and looking for errors in grammar, spelling and structure. Proofreading is done by the writer and includes steps such as checking spelling and grammar, proofreading the soft copy, printing and proofreading the hard copy, having a peer proofread and edit the hard copy, and making corrections to the text.
