The two layers of the skin are the epidermis (the outer layer) which is the top layer that you see and the dermis (the inner layer) which is much thicker than the epidermis.

The layer that contains keratinized cells which allows for the strength and flexibility of the skin is found in epidermis and makes up 90% of the cells present.

The layer that contains papillae, which creates adhesion between both skin layers and gives nourishment to the epidermis layer is the dermis.
