With this problem you have to remember the order of operations also known as PEMDAS (Parentheses, Exponents, Multiplication & Division, Addition & Subtraction).
First, on the left side distribute a -2 to get: 14-6x-2=6(4+x)
Second, combine like terms on the left side: 12-6x=6(4+x)
Third, distribute the 6 on the right side: 12-6x=12+6x
Fourth, when simplifiying the equation further we see that we get 0=0 which means the answer is no solution.
