It also made the colonists realize that they could form a formidable force if they coalesced together. Prolonged isolation from the crown also implied that a collective identity separate from the Great Britain thrived. Ultimately, salutary neglect contributed towards the grievances that led to the Revolutionary War when GB tried to reinstate control.
