by "the settlers" I assume you mean settlers of the original colonies. I would say the main issues they faced immediately were food and clean water sources, unsureness about the Native Americans, finding appropriate building material. Struggles are problems that persist over a period of time. the struggles are much more varied depending on which colonists (what city) you mean. Some had friendly natives, some not. Most had fertile land. Most or all had clean water. If this is for a paper and you can, pick a colony, describe the ∆above∆ about it, and then describe what is different about that colony
