Answer:

  • Opinionated essays are, as the name implies, an opinion on a certain topic, and involves the reasons of why your opinion is what it is, therefore, you need to present arguments throughout the text.
  • To start such type of essay, don't simply give the reader the "gold" on the first paragraphs, instead, give them a glimpse of your opinion to make them curious about it and keep reading.

Ideas: (movie: Interstellar, opinion: enjoyed the movie)

"Stay", Murphy used to say to Cooper before he travelled, in tears. The feeling of Murphy towards Cooper is the same that I have when it comes to Interstellar, an unmatched adventure that gave me tears and reflections about life. Her phrase defines my emotions when I finished the movie, I just wanted to stay a little longer and watch more of the masterpiece written by Christopher Nolan.

  • As you can see, I start with something classic of the movie, proceed to give a taste of my opinion and wrap up with a little bit more of how I felt towards the movie.
  • You need to think that an opinionated essay is a gradient, from the "What is his opinion?" to "Oh, so his opinion is..." not in a dry and simple way, but in steps, levels. Your opinion is a gem that needs to be admired in different angles, so don't give the bigger picture right away.
  • Reference of the movie > Glimpses of opinion >  Other angle of your opinion > Fraction your opinion so you can introduce them in the arguments > Develop your arguments.
